Why we got in touch
If a member of our team has contacted you, it’s because we believe your professional experience could be valuable to one of our clients on a specific project. We identify potential experts through public sources and professional networks such as LinkedIn, journals and news reports, and reach out individually. We’ve approached you because what you know matters to the question at hand.

Senior executives & advisors
If you’ve led at the top of your industry or worked closely with investors as a trusted advisor, you can share your perspective through strategic conversations, longer-term engagements and potential board opportunities.
Selected senior professionals, particularly those with significant leadership, M&A or private equity-backed company experience, may also be invited to join AlphaCircles™. 30–60 minute phone conversations, occasionally by video. The most common way we work with experts.

Short online questionnaires, screened to fit your experience, usually no more than 20 minutes.

Ongoing engagements on a specific opportunity or strategic question, which may include meetings or site visits.

Your privacy
We treat your data with confidentiality. We’ll only share an overview of your background so a client can decide whether to engage you — never your contact details without your consent. Clients are contractually bound to keep everything you discuss confidential.
Your employment
Most of our experts are in full-time work. You take part in a personal capacity, never as a representative of your employer, and interactions flex around a busy schedule.
Our standards
Every expert engages under our Code of Conduct and compliance framework. We take any breach seriously — part of what makes working with us trusted on both sides.
Compensation
If you’re eligible for compensation, we pay an agreed hourly rate, pro-rated to the time you spend. We typically pay within days of the consultation, and always within our 30-day terms, via a secure payment link — US and Canada-based experts may opt for a check.
Prefer not to be paid? Many experts donate their fee to charity, or choose a gift of Bordeaux wine instead.
If you’d like to discuss your rate, speak to your project contact — bearing in mind that higher rates tend to mean fewer requests.

When we believe your professional experience is valuable and may be of interest to one of our clients, you’ll receive a direct call or message from AlphaSights. No matter your professional background, your knowledge is unique and may be particularly helpful for our clients. The goal of our initial outreach is to introduce what we do over the phone and mutually determine whether there’s an opportunity to work together. We use various public sources, such as professional social networks (e.g. LinkedIn), journals and news reports to identify individuals who have professional experience that may be relevant to our clients’ projects. If we’ve contacted you by email or phone about a specific client project, we may have obtained your contact details from a third-party partner. We only work with third parties who guarantee they have sourced all contact details in compliance with applicable data privacy laws. We handle your data with the utmost care and confidentiality. If you express interest in working with AlphaSights, we will share an overview of your professional background with our client so they can determine if they would like to engage you. We will never share your contact details with our clients without your consent.
Our clients are contractually required to treat any information we share with them (or you share with them during an interaction) confidential. They are prohibited from sharing your information with third parties or using it other than in connection with their specific project scope.

The majority of AlphaSights experts are currently in full-time employment and client interactions can fit easily and flexibly into a busy work schedule. Your participation is in a personal capacity and cannot be as a representative of your employer.

How often your expertise is requested depends on dynamic client needs. Sometimes, you may receive multiple requests in a short space of time. Other times, there may be longer periods of inactivity. We will reach out when there is a suitable project for you.
We aim to keep interactions on the calendar as originally scheduled. However, our clients unfortunately have to reschedule or cancel occasionally due to calendar conflicts and changing priorities. We will let you know of such changes as soon as we can.

If you are eligible for monetary compensation, we'll pay you an agreed hourly rate on a pro-rata basis based on the time you spend interacting with our clients. AlphaSights' standard terms of payment are 30 days, but we always aim to compensate as quickly as possible. Upon completing the client interaction, you'll receive a secure payment link with easy instructions for bank transfer. US and Canada-based experts can opt for a check.
Experts in certain countries can also choose to receive an excellent bottle of Bordeaux sent straight to your door.
Alternatively, you can donate all or a portion of your fees to our chosen charity partner. If you’d like to donate to a charity of your choice, please opt for a cash payment and submit the charity payment yourself.
Payment processing will always be in line with our Terms of Payment, which are sent to you before any interaction.
If you would like to discuss your hourly rate, please speak to a member of the AlphaSights team when we next get in touch about a project. High rates typically lead to lower demand for your expertise.
AlphaSights is incorporated in the UK, so you should follow the tax rules in your country for income received from the UK. For this reason, we don’t issue 1099s to experts domiciled in the US.
